Richmond History Center Hours

Tuesday - Saturday: 10 am - 5 pm
Sunday: 12 - 5 pm
Closed on Mondays except major Monday holidays.

  • Wickham House Tours are given throughout the day from 10:30 am - 4:00 pm, Tuesday to Saturday, 12:30 - 4:00 pm on Sunday. Tours originate in the History Center lobby.
  • Sally Bell's Kitchen, located behind the HIstory Center, is open for lunch Monday through Friday year round. Seating is indoors or in a lovely garden setting.
  • The Valentine Gift Shop, offering a wide array of books, toys and other items, is open Monday - Saturday 10 am - 5 pm and Sunday 12 noon - 5 pm.
  • Archives and Collection Research are by appointment only.  For hours, fees and available services please visit our research page.

Admission

One-day admission to the Valentine Richmond History Center exhibition galleries, the Edward V. Valentine Sculpture Studio, and the Wickham House (1812):

  • Adults (19+ years old): $8
  • Senior (55+): $7
  • Military: $7
  • Student with ID: $7
  • Children (7-18): $7
  • Children (6 and under): Free
  • History Center Members: Free

For $10, a Court End Passport includes admission to all of the above, as well as the John Marshall House (Mar. - Dec.) and the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia. Valid for one year from date of purchase.

The John Marshall House is located within walking distance of the History Center. The Black History Museum is a longer walk and a short drive.

You also may be interested in visiting the Virginia State Capitol, which is open daily, is free to the public and is located two blocks from the History Center.
